Dear Senators Lee, McConnell, and Romney,

I am a seventy year old Utahan and in all my years I have never been so fearful for the fate of the country I love. I have always voted but it has only been during this presidency that I have felt the need to contact my representatives on a regular basis. I have been shocked and saddened by the unethical, cruel and petty actions of our current president. His actions on Ukraine are just the tipping point.

I have followed the impeachment proceedings by listening to the hearings almost in their entirety. I found the witnesses that were brave enough to come forward to be credible; I also found some of the questioning by the Republican representatives to be petty attacks on our career diplomats and civil servants. Some of whom were threatened by the President on Twitter.

This, plus the fact that the White House has blocked every document and witness, without exception, is clear evidence that the President is guilty of obstructing congress.

I want a full and fair trial in the Senate not only because the evidence and witnesses indicate that the President is guilty, but also because it is the constitutional obligation of the senate to do so. Each senator is required by constitutional oath to be an impartial juror. A sham trial suggested by Senator McConnell is an abuse of power.

I believe that the best way forward is for the senate to hold a fair trial which must include witnesses and documents that were blocked by a White House. Along with additional information that has come to light since articles of impeachment were adopted by the house.

I fully agree with the enclosed statement on impeachment by Mormon Women for Ethical Government.

Sincerely,
Christine (Utah)
