Dear Senators Sinema and Kelly,

I am a senior citizen who understands the importance of all eligible Americans having easy access to voting. It shouldn’t be difficult to vote to exercise and protect our democracy. However, I am concerned about recent efforts to limit Americans’ voting freedom. Since the beginning of the year, more than 400 restrictive voting laws were introduced, and 30 restrictive voting laws were enacted by state legislatures. Voting freedom restrictions backpedal on 200 years of progress made by our nation towards representative governance.

Voting freedom is a national issue, and the ideas behind the Freedom to Vote Act have widespread and bipartisan public support. A uniform and federal standard for voting freedom nationwide can promote democratic processes that are representative of and accountable to the American people. I support the Freedom to Vote Act. This is what America and our Constitution are about. I especially like the provisions in this bill for measures to end partisan gerrymandering.

I encourage you to remember that public opinion polls show there is widespread, bipartisan support for this bill. Please do your part in collaborating and supporting the Freedom to Vote Act.

Respectfully,

Kay (AZ)
