‘As a Steward of This Earth, I Am Concerned’

Dear Senators Blackburn and Hagerty,

I am a resident and concerned citizen of Tennessee, and of our beautiful United States.

I love the outdoors, I love learning how to live a more sustainable lifestyle, and I enjoy the state and national parks so close at my disposal. However, as a citizen, an inhabitant of this planet, and a steward of this earth, I am concerned.

‘Silence Can Be Interpreted as Condoning the Decisions and Actions of Our Leaders

Dear Senators Blackburn and Alexander,

I have never been one to attend rallies, write representatives, or volunteer for campaigns. I guess I have always been in the silent majority. It hasn’t been until now that I have been compelled to write to my representatives. Silence can be interpreted as condoning the decisions and actions of our leaders. I do not condone what has been going on since Donald Trump became President of the United States. Because of him and the complicity of the Republicans in both the House and the Senate, I can no longer call myself a Republican. I am now an Independent.

‘We Should Be First and Foremost Loyal to the Country and Its Constitution’

Dear Senators Alexander and Blackburn,

I am a former Republican, now an Independent. The Republican Party has lost its moorings in “The Age Of Trump.” There is no place there for me anymore, so I could not stay. I cannot, will not, support a President who constantly lies, bullies and berates anyone who is not “loyal” to HIM. We should be first and foremost loyal to the country and its constitution. His brazen attitude concerning the power of the Presidency is very worrisome to me. His erratic behavior is unnerving, and I’m afraid what future “off the cuff” decisions he may make that will negatively affect the nation and the world. He is tearing this country apart as he constantly pits democrats and republicans against each other.
