Dear Senators Lee and Romney,

I look at rapidly changing temperatures, increased natural disasters, rising sea water, and diminishing ice at the poles, and it terrifies me. We know these changes are caused by climate change. What kind of world are we leaving to our grandchildren?

Governments have the obligation to protect the wellbeing of their citizens, future generations, and other citizens with whom we share Mother Earth.

The Biden administration has proposed legislation to improve our country’s infrastructure, with an emphasis on reducing our carbon footprint. It provides for investments in cleaner transportation options, adding clean energy sources to our electrical grid, and addresses our water systems. It also provides for education that will help our workforce shift away from carbon-based fuels.

I’m calling on you to work with President Biden to enact legislation that will reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, protect water sources, and promote conservation.

Climate change is not a political issue. Please reach across the aisle to find solutions. The lives of my grandchildren and yours depend on your courageous actions now.

Regards,
Leslie (UT)
