Dear Senators Jones and Shelby,

I am a constituent who reaches out to my representatives when I feel strongly about issues. I am a mother of three, an artist, and currently obtaining my MSW (master’s in social work) from Samford University. I care deeply about ethical practices in all aspects of society, from community issues to Washington politics.

I have been following the news of the impeachment proceedings by listening to a significant portion of the hearing in the House and trial in the Senate.

‘You Swore to Defend the Constitution Just as My Sons Did When They Joined the Military’

Dear Senators Booker, Menendez, and McConnell,

I am a retired teacher and the mother of two sons serving in the military. I have been following the news of the impeachment hearings by watching the live hearings and testimony in Congress and reading local and national newspapers. I care about how the impeachment proceedings in the Senate will be conducted and want to see a full and fair trial by impartial jurors and one in which witnesses are allowed to testify. When you took the oath of office you swore to support and defend the Constitution just as my sons did when they joined the military.

‘I Want to See a Full, Fair and Unbiased Senate Trial Without Prejudice on Both Sides of the Aisle’

Dear Senators Lee, McConnell, and Romney,

I am a mother, Utah constituent who has voted in every election that I have been eligible to vote in for the past 42 years, a committed U.S. citizen, community volunteer who is concerned about the integrity of our republic and politicians respect for the U.S. Constitution. I have been following the impeachment proceedings closely via televised hearings, radio recordings and print news. I care deeply about the impeachment proceedings because I believe Congress needs to be a check on the executive branch as was intended in our constitution and should not become a partisan process. I want to see a full, fair and unbiased Senate trial without prior prejudice on both sides of the aisle.

‘I Can Attest to the Importance of Sacrifice in the Name of Protecting Freedom’

Dear Senator McSally,

I am an Army wife. Though I have only been [able] to identify as such for the last 18 months, I can attest to the importance of sacrifice in the name of protecting the freedom of our great country. Among our freedoms is the freedom of speech, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to share my concerns with you in this letter.

I have been following the news of the impeachment proceedings by way of impartial news outlets. My investment in the proceedings is much greater than any other occurrence in D.C. than I’d have ever expected. Truthfully, I feel a great need to pay close attention, for I fear that work in my government is being done dishonestly.

‘When You Took the Oath of Office You Swore to Support and Defend the Constitution’

Dear Senators Booker, McConnell, and Menendez

I am a retired teacher and the mother of two sons serving in the military. I have been following the news of the impeachment hearings by watching the live hearings and testimony in Congress and reading local and national newspapers. I care about how the impeachment proceedings in the Senate will be conducted and want to see a full and fair trial by impartial jurors and one in which witnesses are allowed to testify. When you took the oath of office you swore to support and defend the Constitution just as my sons did when they joined the military. The president himself must honor his sworn duty to the Constitution by providing the documents Congress has subpoenaed and allowing his current and former staff to testify.

‘I Care About the Impeachment Proceedings Because My Key Value Has Always Been Truth’

Dear Senators Feinstein and Harris,

I am a constituent, and proud of your wisdom and leadership. I was a lifelong Republican, until these dark years. I’m grateful for my progressive friends who have extended their patience and mercy towards me as I woke up and learned increased empathy and understanding. I’m currently an independent that leans heavily progressive.

As a woman who has worked in the male-dominated tech field, as a mother who sees the challenges first-hand, raising biracial daughters, the issues that matter most to me include equality, inclusiveness, healthcare for all, and safety. The fact that our nation has been on a course that continually veers away from the issues that matter to me and so many families across this nation, is sobering.
