‘This Policy Will Force Institutions to Choose Between Putting the Health of Their Students and Instructors at Risk or Losing Their International Students’

Dear Senator Lee, Senator Romney, and Representative Curtis,

I am a middle school teacher here in Utah. I am devastated about ICE’s new rules in regards to foreign students studying in the United States.

This policy negatively impacts the economy, the universities, and more specifically the international students. This policy will force institutions to choose between putting the health of their students and instructors at risk or losing their international students.

‘This Policy Will Have Tangible Adverse Economic Consequences’

Dear Senator Lee, Senator Romney, and Representative Curtis,

I am dismayed to see this administration’s continued attempts to erode legal immigration now prohibiting many foreign students from studying in the United States. The latest ruling regarding international students has me deeply concerned. They pay the highest rates of tuition to colleges and universities — money that often subsidizes the tuition of domestic students. ICE’s recent decision to force students to leave the country if they cannot access in-person classes due to the pandemic is unfair on many levels. I want my representatives to understand that this policy will have tangible adverse economic consequences and may end up aggravating attempts to control the COVID-19 virus. I would ask that all our students — foreign and domestic — be granted the ability to continue their studies without fear for their health or possible deportation.

Regards,
Denise (Utah)

‘It Is Constitutionally Appropriate to Hold Our President and Other Elected Officials Accountable’

Dear Senators Lee, McConnell, and Romney,

I am a mother and a patriotic American.

I have been following the news of the impeachment proceedings by watching and listening to the hearings, reading a wide variety of news sources, and reading the public documents.

I care about the impeachment proceedings because I believe we should have an ethical and moral government free from interference from outside influence.

‘It Is Important the Trial Moves Forward in a Fair Manner, Where Sworn Witnesses Can Be Called’

Dear Senators Lee and Romney,

I am a constituent and a mother who has been following the impeachment process. I am concerned about the impeachment proceedings due to Senator McConnell’s willingness to work with the White House, instead of in the best interests of our country. It is important the trial moves forward in a fair manner, where sworn witnesses can be called and all information is regarded with impartiality.

I agree with the enclosed statement on impeachment by Mormon Women for Ethical Government.

Sincerely,
Maurena (Utah)

‘The Right to a Full and Fair Trial Is a Fundamental Tenant of our Democracy’

Dear Senators Lee and Romney,

Thank you for your time and service. I am writing to strongly urge the U.S. Senate to hold a full and fair impeachment trial of Donald Trump’s actions relating to Ukraine. The right to a full and fair trial is a fundamental tenant of our democracy and it should be applied at the highest levels of government the same as to any trial, of any individual accused of wrongdoing. Key witnesses must be heard and jurors must be impartial, not beholden to party affiliations or personal loyalties. Such bias would disqualify a juror in any US court of law.

‘Do What Is Right, Let the Consequence Follow’

Dear Senators Romney and Lee,

24 years ago, when I was a 16-year-old attending Girls State at Southern Utah University, I threw back my shoulders and proudly declared, “I love my government, but I hate politics.” That was how I “ran” for our mock House of Representatives, and it has felt like an honest statement to me in all the years since.

On the edge of a new decade, I look out my front window at the summit of Mount Timpanogos and I feel much the same. But now, rather than feeling pride and confidence in our government, I feel a deep sense of dread and disillusionment.

‘I Have Been Overwhelmed With Worry About Our Country’

Dear Senators Lee and Romney,

I am writing to you again to encourage you to continue to act in a bipartisan manner and insist on a fair and full impeachment trial in the Senate. Judging from the House hearings, it is entirely clear that more witnesses and more documentation are required for the full proceedings of President Trump’s call in July to be clearly laid out and revealed.

‘I Want to See a Full, Fair and Unbiased Senate Trial Without Prejudice on Both Sides of the Aisle’

Dear Senators Lee, McConnell, and Romney,

I am a mother, Utah constituent who has voted in every election that I have been eligible to vote in for the past 42 years, a committed U.S. citizen, community volunteer who is concerned about the integrity of our republic and politicians respect for the U.S. Constitution. I have been following the impeachment proceedings closely via televised hearings, radio recordings and print news. I care deeply about the impeachment proceedings because I believe Congress needs to be a check on the executive branch as was intended in our constitution and should not become a partisan process. I want to see a full, fair and unbiased Senate trial without prior prejudice on both sides of the aisle.

‘No Man Should Seek to Circumvent the Full Process of Law’

Dear Senators Lee and Romney,

I am writing you to encourage you to thoroughly support a full, fair, and impartial trial of the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.  As a citizen of the United States, he should be accorded the right to a fair and impartial trial. As the president of the United States, he should be held accountable for his actions and have the right to have them reviewed in an impartial manner. No man should be above the law and no man should be denied the right to a full, unbiased trial. No man should seek to circumvent the full process of law.
