Dear Senators Romney and Lee,

During this time that we celebrate Earth Day I am reminded that the most effective thing we can do to combat climate change is to use legislative power to change our practices as a community.

I am a long time registered Republican mom of three, and am also presently working in elementary schools across the State as part of the iSEE network. I see these kids and realize it is my responsibility to hand off the planet to them in the best shape I can.

I am also worried about the people I DON’T see directly — the poor in other countries that rely primarily on agriculture that have already seen a reduction in crops to feed themselves because of our changing climate. Carbon tracking unequivocally traces the increase in carbon in the atmosphere to man-made emissions, and the only way we can care for not just the planet but the PEOPLE on our planet is to aggressively start reducing these emissions further.

This is not a problem to “kick down the road.”

Regardless of what some businesses may say, many are in support of extremely reducing emissions and this is the right attitude. Please support – negotiate if you have to, but please work with – President Biden’s infrastructure plan to help create long term stability for businesses and people in the US, and be caring neighbors for those in other countries.

Regards,
Amara (UT)
