Dear Senator McConnell,

As a lifelong Republican I am confident that there will rise up among the ranks of Republican senators’ men and women who will put principles before politics and advocate for a fair senate impeachment trial. In doing so truth will prevail and history, that is not far off, will be the judge.

But I fear that your determination to “work hand in glove” with the white house, will expose the Senate as a stage for political manipulation over bipartisan collaboration. The “glove”, which I take to be the Senate in your metaphor, becoming nothing more than a puppet for the bidding of the White house.

So much of this strategy relies upon no one speaking up and everyone taking their place in line behind the White house. This is not likely to happen. Please consider that once all details have been exposed, which they will be, how history will judge your decision to make a statement that appears to impede the impartiality the constitution requires in the separation of powers.

Please consider changing your stance and allowing an impartial trial in the senate.

Sincerely,
Vicki (Ohio)
